Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art
Anyone interested in learning about the various cultural communities living in Utah today, will enjoy a visit to the newly-renovated Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts. Located in Salt Lake´s Liberty Park, this is the only museum in the country dedicated exclusively to exhibiting a state-owned collection of contemporary folk art. The collection includes American Indian beadwork and basketry, woodcarving, textiles, cowboy crafts and ethnic arts with worldwide roots. Besides free exhibits from the State Collection, they host free concerts during July and August featuring traditional performers from a variety of local folk and ethnic communities. They also house an archive of recordings and photographs that document Utah´s living traditional culture. The museum is open weekends during the spring and fall; daily during the summer. Group tours are available year round and all programs are free. Located at Liberty Park 1100 S. 600 E.
Children's Museum of Utah
The Children's Museum of Utah is a hands-on discovery museum for kids of all ages. Visitors will find an interactive playground where a new learning experience awaits them around every corner. Together, children and adults can explore, imagine, create and discover. The Museum features more than 140 permanent exhibits in the arts, sciences and humanitites. Located at 100 S. 444 W.
Fort Dougles Military Museum
Established October 26, 1862, this was the home to U.S. Army troops until October 26, 1991 when the post was deactivated and most of it turned over to the University of Utah. Museum Hours - Tuesday-Saturday 12:00 to 4:00 PM Closed Sunday, Monday and Federal Holiday weekends. Located at 32 Potter Street.
Hellenic Cultural Museum
Located in the Greek Orthodox Holy Trinity Cathedral, the museum reflects the life of early Greek immigrants in Utah. Open every Sunday for 1 hour after church services. Open every Wednesday from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. Located at 279 S 300 W.
Museum of Church History and Art
The Museum of Church History and Art tells the story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through educational exhibits and programs. The museum collects and displays Latter-day Saint art, artifacts and rare documents. Free admission. Open - Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Located at 45 N. West Temple.
Utah Museum of Fine Arts
Utah Museum of Fine Arts - The Utah Museum of Fine Arts offers over 20 galleries comprising a collection of more than 15,000 works from all over the world, spanning many styles and periods. Opening Hours - Tuesday ? Friday 10 am ? 5 pm, Wednesday 10 am ? 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday 11 am ? 5 pm, Closed Mondays and Holidays. Located at 410 Campus Center Drive.
Utah Museum of Natural History
The Museum's collections in the fields of earth sciences, biology, and anthropology rank among the largest and most comprehensive for the western United States. While emphasizing the Great Basin and Colorado Plateau, they also include material from throughout the world. Hours: Mon-Sat 9:30am-5:30pm; Sun 12n-5pm. Cost: Adults $6; Children & Seniors $3.50.
