Home Selling Advice - Real Estate Commissions
Real estate commissions, what you can expect and what it covers.
Real Estate Commissions
The commission for selling your home is defined in the listing contract. The standard rate is usually 6 percent, but sometimes a Realtor will charge a fixed amount and sometimes the Realtor will negotiate the percentage. The commission is split between the buyers Realtor and the Sellers Realtor. One thing to remember is that if you offer less than 3% for the buyers Realtor, then you are running the risk of discouraging those Realtors from showing your home. After all why would they show your home for a 2% commission when they could show other homes and earn 3%?
