Summary of how the Salt Lake County Utah housing market performed in the first quarter 2009.
1st Quarter 2009 Housing Market Update
Home prices in the first quarter 2009 declined in the vast majority of Salt Lake County Cites. In fact only two zip codes saw its single family home price increase. The Salt Lake City 84102 zip code returned a 55% increase (this should be taken with a grain of salt given the relatively low number of sales) and 84105 retuned a 7.92% increase. The worst hit areas in the valley were Holladay 84124 which declined over 21% and Midvale 84047 which went down 16.29%.
Even the condo real estate market suffered, with all but three areas declining in value. The downtown SLC condo market had another poor quarter, with only 5 condos sold in the downtown area of 84101.
Looking on the bright side, the number of home sales does appear to be picking up, in fact we have three homes under contract in three days.
