Summary of how the Salt Lake County Utah housing market performed in the second quarter 2019.
2019 2nd Quarter Housing Market Update
After what might be called a brief pause in the seemingly endless upward spiral in Salt Lake Home Prices, the second quarter 2019 saw the market take another step up and accelerate again. The falling interest rates seem to have provided a shot in the arm which saw median home price for a Salt Lake County property set a new high of $345,000. There were 5,207 properties sold in the quarter, which was slightly up on 2018 figures (up just 0.74%). Homes were also selling fast taking a median of 15 days to go under contract.
Single Family Home Sales
The single-family home housing market surged in the quarter, setting yet another record high of $385,000 and seemingly on its way to breaking the $400,000 barrier. The new record sales price was an increase of 7.30% from the same time last year. Number of homes sold was pretty much flat with 3,753 sales and while homes took longer to sell, the median of 14 days is still a very good number, indicating a strong seller's market.
Condo Home Sales
While the number of condo sales where slightly down (637 down 1.85%) and were taking longer to sell (15 days), prices showed strong appreciation climbing 7.66% to set a new record high of $225,000.
