Summary of how the Salt Lake County Utah housing market performed in the first quarter 2013.
1st Quarter 2013 Housing Market Update
The improving Salt Lake Housing Market continued in the 1st quarter 2013, with median home prices for single family homes increasing 18.95%. While the number of homes sold hardly changed over the last 12 months (just 0.36% more), a tightening of the inventory level (fewer homes for sale) resulted in keen competition among home buyers, driving up home prices.
The condo housing market which had been lagging behind single family homes had a pretty good quarter. On the back of stronger sales that were up 26.61%, the median price for a Salt Lake County condo rose 14.16% in the quarter. Condos were also selling faster, with the median days on market dropping a healthy 20.88%, to 72 days.
When we look the stats at a zip code level, Holladay 84117 had the best performance, returning an impressive 40.66% for the median sales price. In fact only one zip code saw its median sales price drop, with the Salt Lake City zip code 84102 falling 9.19%.
